Criminal Justice

Juvenile Justice

Juvenile delinquency and juvenile justice are areas of lively public interest, active scholarship, and expanding career opportunities. Protecting the community from youth crime, while helping youth mature into productive members of the community, provides a constant challenge for the juvenile justice professional. A career in juvenile justice combines elements of traditional criminal justice with a strong commitment to youth and to rehabilitation. The number of professional positions in juvenile justice continues to grow as communities try new and innovative ways to deal with delinquency, its precursors, and its consequences. The juvenile justice concentration at Mercyhurst College combines scholarship with practical skills and experience. Students emerge from the concentration very well prepared for a career as a juvenile justice professional.
